The Abbey of Saint Scholastica was founded in the 19th century, in the town of Dourgne in south-west France. It was completed and consecrated in 1927 and is now home to 45 sisters. Liturgical prayer marks the rhythm of their daily life. The day is spent in prayer, lectio divina, study, manual work and communal activities. Guests are welcomed - in accordance with the Rule of St Benedict. Guest accommodation is available, as is a place to meditate in quiet surroundings.
This historical monument attracts tourists throughout the year.
Delhom Acoustique has been tasked with the acoustic treatment of the Abbey’s largest parlor, where the sisters come to converse. The challenge in this project is improve the space's acoustics whilst respecting the original architecture. Our solution will increase speech intelligibility within the room, ensure privacy of conversations and bring better acoustic comfort.
It is an honour for us to be working on a site that marks the historical culture of France.
